Holy Crap! I bought a ticket to Ireland. This trip has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember or at least 15 yrs now. I have a whole 9 days there to bag my next husband. LOL. Or in reality see everything I want to see. I decided that now is my time to travel and I have a whole list of places that I want to see in life. So, my bucket list is starting now!
Growing up my Mom and I would travel for 4-6 weeks over the summer and at last count I have seen 40+ states in the US. I have been out of the country a few times but never abroad, just over the border. Although Niagara Falls was amazing. Shout out to the Canada side.
Those summer trips with my mom were some of the best times growing up and instilled in me my love of traveling. Which I’m pretty sure I instilled in at least one child since he now lives out west. But back to Ireland, I have always dreamed of standing on the edge of the Cliffs of Moher (main picture) to just breathe and take it in. Similar to the experience of standing at the edge of the Grand Canyon. It is a very serene and spiritual moment until your oldest child decides to dangle a leg off the side and yell “hey mom, look, no hands!” Sigh.
I will kiss the Blarney Stone! Do you know what you have to do to kiss this stone? I didn’t until a few weeks ago. You have to lay on your back, shimmy out till you are hanging half way off a wall and then *gasp* do a half back bend to kiss the stone. From my understanding though is they do have someone there to help hold you and those nifty bars for you to hold. LOL Check out the photo.
I am sitting here compiling a list of the places I want to see and while I probably won’t get to all of them, I will do my damnedest to make most of them a reality. I recently re-watched the movie The Bucket List with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson. It reminded me of what I had wanted to do when I was younger and what I want to do again. If you have never seen the movie it is a great watch but be prepared there are a few sad parts.
Ok, if you have traveled, leave suggestions for me on the places in Ireland I should see or maybe even the countries/cities you think are inspiring. Oh, how I wish I could do the 6+ months of travel scenario in – EAT PRAY LOVE. Maybe soon…
